NOW SERVING: Mint, Basil & Jalapeno Relish

One of my most frequently used and requested condiments. Can be used with a variety of dishes.

Mint, basil and jalapeno relish

Use it with eggs. It's better than pesto because it goes with everything. The basil mint is a delicious combination and the added heat of the jalapeno is delicious. It goes with any meat or seafood.

Started with my fish taco and then for beef, pork and fish dish I made.

I prefer lime over lemon but either is fine. It's a flavor preference but I prefer the acidity and flavor of a lime.

Experiment with the jalapeno and see what your preference is.

A cast-iron pan works best but a stainless steel pan will also work. Try avoiding a non-stick pan because creating the sear will be more difficult.

Ingredients

  • 1 bunch fresh mint, washed

  • 1 bunch fresh basil, washed

  • 1/4 - 1/2 c sliced jalapeno in vinegar (depending on spice level)

  • 1 lime, juiced

  • Kosher salt, to taste

Instructions

  1. Put all ingredients in food processor and blend till desired consistency. Taste and season with more lime and kosher salt as desired. Add extra virgin olive oil if want looser consistency. Can store in fridge for up to a week. This relish is amazing on everything!
